Description

Chhatarpur Temple (Shri Aadya Katyayani Shakti Peetham) is located at a distance of approx. 4 km away from Qutub Minar on Mehrauli-Gurgaon road. The main deity of the temple is Goddess, Katyayani a part of Navdurga and is considered to be the sixth avatar of goddess Durga. This is the second largest temple complex in India, This temple was regarded as the biggest temple in India and the second largest in the world before the Akshardham temple was built. Baba Sant Nagpal Ji built this temple in 1974. The temple acquires the total of approx 70 acres and has 20 small and large temples divided into three complexes along with the samadhi of Baba Sant Nagpal which lies in the Campus of the Shiv-Gauri Nageshwar Mandir.

History

According to Legend, one should tie holy threads for there wish fulfillment in the Old Tree which stands just at the entrance to the main temple. The temple premises itself includes Hospice, school and small hospital occurred without specific, written prior permission.
